Mont Blanc,(Italian Monte Bianco), mountain mass in the western Alps, on the French-Italian border. The highest peak of the Alps, also called Mont Blanc, is part of this mountainous area, which in geology is known as a massif. The peak is situated in the Haute-Savoie Department of France and is one of the highest points (4,807 m/15,771 ft) in Europe. The entire massif forms part of the Savoy Alps. From the summit down to
the 2,400-m (8,000-ft) evel its slopes are covered by an ice cap that is more than 23 m (75 ft) thick. On the lower slopes are a number of glaciers, notably Mer de Glace on the northern slope. The first ascent of Mont Blanc was made in 1786.
Matterhorn, peak of the Alps in southwestern Switzerland, near the border with the Italian region of Valle d'Aosta. It rises to an elevation
of 4,478 m (14,692 ft). In July 1865 a group led by British alpinist Edward Whymper was the first to scale the famous jagged peak.
Grosglockner, also Glockner, mountain in southern Austria, in the Hohe Tauern range (part of the Eastern Alps). The highest point in Austria, it rises to 3,797m on the border between Tirol (Tyrol) and Kärnten (Carinthia) provinces. The Pasterze Glacier, one of Europe's largest, descends from the permanently snowcapped peak, and Grossglockner High Alpine Highway (opened 1935) crosses the Alps via the nearby Grossglockner Pass.

Cotopaxi, volcano, central Ecuador, situated in the Andes Mountains, near Quito. One of the highest active volcanoes in the world, Cotopaxi rises from a valley 2,750 m (9,000 ft) above sea level to a height of 5,897 m (19,347 ft) above sea level. The width of its crater from west to east has been estimated at more than 500 m (1,600 ft) and the width from north to south at 700 m (2,300 ft). The perfectly formed, snow-covered, and cloud-enveloped cone of  Cotopaxi is 1,350 m (4,400 ft) high.

The Mount Acconcagua is the highest peak in the western hemisphere, located in the Andes Mountain Argentina, near the border with Chile.
 An extinct volcano it is 6,960 m (22,834 ft). The first ascent to the summit was made in 1897 be the Swiss mountaineer Mathias Zurbriggen.

Muztagh — Ata in Uygur and Kirghiz languages means „Father of ice mountains.” The months of May through September are best to climb here. The muntain slopeis not steep. On 31th July 1956 a Chinese — USSR expedition-had approached the peak for the first time. In July, 1980 an American group was allowed to climb the mountain by skis, they broken world female record on altitute ski. Follow them are many expeditions from all over the world are crowned with success a few years later. Muztagh — Ata is a huge mountain — massive, which consists of two summits: one of them is 7546 m high, another 7130 m. The distance between them is about 2 km

McKinley, Mount, also Denali, mountain, south central Alaska, in the Alaska Range, in Denali National Park and Preserve. The mountain rises 6194 m (20,320 ft) above sea level and is the highest peak in North America. Known to the Native Americans as Denali (The High One), the mountain was named for President William McKinley in 1896. The summit of Mount McKinley was first reached in 1913 by the Anglo-American clergyman and explorer Hudson Stuck and three companions. Its arctic environment with extreme temperatures and severe storms and its great
height above the Alaskan plain make it severe test of  personal strength, team work and logistics.
