Expedition: The team travels in Taksindu area on mountain tracks, following rivers or the rough narrow paths in the rock of Himalaya. They walk 10-15 km daily in extreme conditions. Along the way, the team stops in 9 villages, having the base camp in Nunthala. The people receive medical care and then preventive health courses. The expedition takes 3 weeks: 1 week the round trip and acclimatization and 2 weeks for the main social project.
Activity: In the context of extremely reduced resources of Nepal regarding qualified medical personnel and health funds, the project wants to give a hand to solving health problems of the population in this area. The intervention is two folded:
1. Identifying and treating the emergency cases, but also chronic illnesses; offering necessary medication and microsurgeries. The dental problems will receive special attention.
2. Starting an educational program with basic and practical information on health improvement methods and prevention, specially on reducing future dental problems. In the same time, the team will try to know better the people, their way of thinking, their customs and traditions, enjoying also the beautiful surrounding nature. Every member of the team will have a well defined function in the construction of each episode, having many interventions explaining the situations they are in and their actions.

More information on expedition
The starting point is on November 10, 2008, from Henri Coanda Airport, Bucharest, to Amsterdam, and then to New Delhi. After a 12-hour stop, there will be the third flight, to Kathmandu (KTM), and then the fourth, to Phaplu (PPL). From Phaplu to Taksindu, the team will walk 7 hours.
This health camp in Nepal is organized by ASEF (Healh, Education and Family Association), in connection with the local Taksindu authorities and Taksindu Social Welfare Association. The last engaged for meeting some expenses for the members of the team.
Due to this local association, there will be no language barriers.
There are 2 medical posts in the area (Nunthala and Ringmu), but they have little endowment and no medical personnel. This posts can be used as camps where will be offered medical services. Moving from one village to another, the team will walk.
The accommodation services will be offered by a local hotel, the meals being paid by TSW.
The Nepali visa will be issued at the airport, because there is no Nepali Embassy in Romania. The Romanian Embassy in New Delhi has jurisdiction over Nepal.
There is no medicine or equipment forbiden to be brought in Nepal.
The team will be equipped with a satellite phone, so can be reachable all the time.
The team members will wear t-shirts and vests that will have printed the expedition logo and sponsors logos.
